Coder, Casual Part-time

Responsible for coding and abstracting inpatient, day surgery, emergency and clinic records.  Other duties will include CIHI month end submission and balancing, release of information and making corrections to the coding database and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate of an approved Health Information Management Program.
  • Active member in good standing with the Canadian College of Health Information Management Association.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in the use of ICD-10/CCI coding system.
  • Knowledge of 3M Abstracting and Codefinder an asset
  • Demonstrate excellence in communication, customer service focus, teamwork/collaboration, analysis/problem assessment, individual leadership and safety awareness.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated appreciation and respect for protocol, professionalism, confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize the workload and multi-task.
  • Ability to work efficiently independently and in a teamwork environment.

Hours of Work:       Available for all shifts

Wages: $27.87/hr - $32.26/hr plus 12% in lieu of benefits (8% if in HOOPP)
