[New Tecumseth, ON – June 17, 2020] Beginning Wednesday, July 1, 2020 parking fees will be reinstated at Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) for members of the public, staff and physicians. Temporary free parking began on April 13, 2020 as part of SMH’s COVID-19 response.
“I am happy that we were able to waive parking fees temporarily during a very challenging time for everyone,” says Jody Levac, President and CEO, SMH. “As the province gradually allows for services to open up and we slowly reintroduce services such as day surgeries and diagnostic imaging, we are resuming normal parking operations at the Hospital. We would like to thank the community for their understanding and strong support during these unprecedented times.”
As Ontario’s emergency order is extended to June 30th, hospitals across the county are making the decision to reinstate parking fees, with many already having done so.
Parking meters at SMH will be disinfected regularly as well as all high touch areas at the hospital, including coin and vending machines.
Patients coming to SMH are reminded to clean their hands upon entry and throughout their stay, including before and after using parking meters. SMH’s screening policy is still in effect for all patients at the main entrance. All patients will be screened for COVID-19 and will be provided a mask upon entry. Physical distancing must also be practiced while at parking meters and within the hospital (when possible).
The parking fee will return to $10 per day. For more information on parking at SMH, please click here.
