Stevenson Memorial Hospital is proud to announce that Dr. Shazia Ambreen, its Chief of Family Medicine, is a recipient of a 2016 Award of Excellence from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Dr. Ambreen’s pre-op clinic and screening tool have been instrumental in enhancing SMH’s ability to ensure patient safety. Dr. Ambreen sits on several of the hospital’s Quality Improvement Committees, and has worked tirelessly to improve Patient Experience on the Med-Surg unit.

“Dr. Ambreen is an outstanding member of SMH’s staff,” says Jody Levac, President and CEO. “She is fully committed to our core mission of providing high-quality, patient-centred healthcare to all our patients. I have the highest regard for her leadership, professionalism and her dedication to putting patients first. We are proud and grateful to have Dr. Ambreen as part of our team and I can think of no one more deserving of this award.”

The Award of Excellence recognizes contributions in the last 12-24 months in areas pertaining to the specialty of family medicine. This includes patient care, community service, hospital or health-care institutions, teaching, research, or other elements of the academic discipline of family medicine.
