How do I find a family doctor taking new patients?
Although we have been successful in recruiting a number of new doctors, across Canada, there is still a shortage of family doctors taking new patients.  Health Care Connect, a provincial service, assists in finding family physicians and they can be reached at 1-800-445-1822.

In addition to actively recruiting new family physicians, Stevenson provides some services through our Outpatient Department for persons without a family doctor. Additionally, Emergency Services are always available through the ER Department. These services enable community residents to obtain necessary medical attention until such time as they are able to find a family doctor.

As family physicians join the community, notices go out to the local media and residents are directed to Health Care Connect.

Is there wheelchair assistance and can I get a wheelchair at the door?
Every effort is made to maintain a supply of wheelchairs at the main entrance. Should you arrive and none are available, please approach the Information Desk to request assistance or Patient Access.

If you require assistance in transferring in and out of your car or in being transported to your appointment, it is recommended that you ask a family member or friend to accompany you to the Hospital. Once inside the Hospital, you can request escort assistance at the Information Desk.

How do I access my medical record?
Patients requiring copies of their medical record must call Health Information Services 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday at extension 1216 prior to coming into the hospital.  Staff will ensure that the appropriate documentation is available for your collection within 30 days from the date of receipt of the consent.  There is a current hospital fee schedule for disclosing or accessing patient health information.
