COVID-19 Assessment Centre Extends Operation & Releases Holiday Hours
[New Tecumseth, ON – December 14, 2020] As cases rise in the region and the demand for COVID-19 testing increases, Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) is extending its COVID-19 Assessment Centre hours of operation to include Thursdays starting this week. The Centre will continue to operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We see the demand and we want to ensure that we are able to provide this service to the community when they need it,” says Jody Levac, President & CEO, SMH. “We are mindful of our staffing capacity but also the uncertainty of when a test may be needed and in short order. We are doing the best we can to maintain the Centre, our Hospital operations and support the needs of our community,” he adds.
Those seeking COVID-19 tests at SMH are able to book online at www.stevensonhospital.ca Appointments can be booked up to 21 days in advance. Appointments can also be made by calling (249) 501-0383 on operating days.
The COVID-19 Assessment Centre at SMH will be open on Thursday, December 24th and Thursday, December 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Centre will be closed on Friday, December 25th and January 1st for the statutory holidays.
Please note that if individuals require a test on a non-operating day at SMH over the holidays, the Barrie COVID-19 Assessment Centre at 26 Sperling Drive operates on weekends and will be open on December 26, 27 and January 2 and 3 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Appointments are required and can be made by calling: (705) 797-3120 or by visiting www.rvh.on.ca
SMH’s Emergency Department remains to be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for those in need of immediate medical care.
