Founded in 1928, Stevenson Memorial Hospital is situated in the fast-growing, picturesque town of Alliston, Ontario, close to Georgian Bay, the Blue Mountains, and the 400. We are currently undergoing a transformation program, which will not only increase the size and scope of the hospital, in the near future.  We care deeply about our patients and our community. About you 

You’re a strong financial leader, with significant experience in the health care sector. Hospital experience is ideal, though financial management experience in a community care access centre will also serve you well. Either way, you should possess your CPA, and have a very strong grasp of the capital budgeting process from a healthcare perspective. Whether it’s navigating the financial relationship with the Central Local Health Integration Network (CHLIN), managing Health Service Accountability Agreement (HSAA) and Multi-sector Service Accountability Agreement (MSAA) submissions, or working with zero-based budgeting assumptions, you possess a deep understanding of the complex financial environment we operate in. 

Chief Financial Officer 

As our new CFO, you will be inheriting a fiscally strong, balanced facility that operates under protected small hospital funding. You will work closely with our CEO and incredibly talented finance manager, as well as the rest of the senior team that stands out in the provincial landscape. You’ll smoothly integrate into our leadership group, and make an immediate impact with financial savvy. Ideally, we want someone who is a hands-on leader – someone who has the desire to roll up their sleeves to get the job done and understand our operations from a tactical level, but who also knows when and where to delegate as required. 

You’ll face several significant challenges, the successful navigation of which will be key to your success. A core annual task is to develop and submit our HSA and MSA agreements. Additionally, the CFO and VP of Corporate Affairs will have oversight of the organization wide corporate affairs services: Health Information Management, Analytics, Legal Affairs, and facility-operational functions including purchasing and procurement, stores, engineering and maintenance, annual capital budgeting, and redevelopment. You will be able to draw on the expertise of our financial manager to get you up to speed on our process, but will also be willing to role up your sleeves and dig into the real tactical work that will make this submission successful. 

You will also need to have some knowledge or experience with the high-level management of IT implementations. We are beginning the process of upgrading and implementing our EHR software to the newest version of Meditech. Due to the financial scope and importance of this project, you’ll oversee it from a financial perspective, ensuring that everything moves along smoothly, in scope and in budget. This will require the ability to manage a partnership that is established with 2 other hospitals. 

Finally, you’ll be moving into a hospital that is about to embark on significant capital and staff expansion as part our strategic growth plan. You will play a key role in maintaining our financial strength as we increase in size and scope over the next several years. You’ll bring your strategic financial vision to the senior team help us progress through these substantial changes.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday. We are a 24/7 operation, so you will occasionally be called upon outside of regular business hours, and be on call roughly every four weeks. We offer an excellent total compensation plan that includes benefits and pension.

  • Broad financial leadership experience in the healthcare sector (ie. Director of Finance or Chief Financial Officer)
  • Experience managing the capital budgeting process in the healthcare sector
  • Experience with HSAA and MSAA submissions
  • Experience managing or overseeing IT implementations
  • Experience leading and developing a high performing team
  • Experience working with LHIN’s
  • Post-secondary education in finance and CPA designation
